Felix Bambury Webbe
Dance with Drums
Since 1994, Felix has performed as a professional dancer with several celebrated dance companies including, Espectaculo Ibu Ana, Raices Profunda, and Banrarra. As a member of Banrarra he assisted with several international dance courses organized by Plaza Cuba.
Judy Kreith
Dance with Drums
Judy Kreith received her Masters in Dance Education from Stanford. She has taught and performed in Cuba, Colorado, California and throughout Alaska. She received grants to study dance in The Gambia, West Africa and in Cuba and she continues to travel to Cuba to pursue research in the history of Cuban Music and Dance. Sharing history, culture and the joy of dancing are her goals in her classes. Currently residing in Boulder, Colorado she is teaching classes and workshops in a variety of dance styles to children and adults.
Bob Parr
Hand Drums
Bob Parr, HS-BCP is a past Drumming Artist-In-Residence within the State of Alaska. In 2003 he retired as a service professional in the health care field with a focus in the area of addictions counseling, EAP and case work. Bob's passion since retirement is group drumming and drum circle facilitation as it relates to reducing stress, dealing with vicarious trauma, a method for self-care, and fun and relaxation.
Mestre Canguru and Professora Sarará
Capoeria
World renown Mestre Canguru from Sao Paulo, Brazil, has over 30 years experience in the art of Capoeira. While he has lead our group since 2003, Mestre Canguru is sought throughout the U.S. and abroad for his knowledge, expertise, and attention to technique. A pioneer of Capoeira in the U.S. he continues to provide quality instruction around the world. His student , Professora Sarará, is the founder and director of H.C.A. After a lifetime devoted to physical fitness, Professora Sarará has come to exemplify the core concepts taught through Capoeira. Through her constant efforts in a predominantly male sport she has provided a model for women athletes and remains the highest ranked female in the U.S. in our group Cordão De Ouro. Together, their support for the ideals of community and cultural education will be the foundation for building a strong Capoeira family her in Humboldt County.
James Yoshizawa
Percussion
James Yoshizawa is a Los Angeles-based drummer, percussionist and educator. He holds a B.M. in Percussion Performance from CSU Long Beach and has studied many instruments including drumset, mallet percussion, hand percussion (congas, bongos, bones, pandeiro, frame drums, riq), and orchestral percussion. He has performed with many great artists such as Brad Dutz, Katisse Buckingham, Ron Stout, Chris Wabich and Michael Carney.
