Known for his improvisational virtuosity, his steady presence in the pocket and his command of multiple styles, Clipper is one of the most highly regarded musicians on the Northwest jazz scene today. Equally comfortable with straight-ahead, traditional, free jazz or bebop, he plays with genuine reverence for the music and an unassuming mastery that speaks for itself. Clipper works out of Seattle, WA and is presently on the jazz faculty at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.

Darin Clendenin is recognized as one of the Northwest’s finest pianist and keyboard artists. Fluent in numerous styles of music, his stylish interpretations of everything from old classics to jazz standards, from classical to modern works enchant audiences everywhere. His performances, as well as his arranging and composing talents, are sought after for their artistry as well as their magical innovative mix of styles.


Zach Compston

Zach Compston is a highly regarded drummer, percussionist and music educator, known for his passion and experience in many avenues of the music world. From many styles of drum set playing, to orchestral and world percussion performance as well as a wide array of teaching credits, Zach has been steadily establishing himself as a versatile figure in many musical arenas. He is a 2012 graduate of Indiana University with a Master’s Degree in Music, and is a 2010 graduate of Capital University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies. Zach is currently the Director of Education and Community Engagement at Jazz Arts Group of Columbus, America's oldest non-profit organization dedicated to jazz.


Keith Karns

Keith Karns is an Alaska born trumpet player, bandleader, and ASCAP and Downbeat award winning composer. Keith has performed, composed for, and recorded with some of the top artists in jazz such as Benny Golson, Jamey Aebersold, Joel Harrison, David Baker, and the UNT One O'Clock Lab Band. Keith's Quintet and Big Band can also be heard in top venues across the country. Keith's debut album "Thought and Memory" was released in May 2012 to critical acclaim. Keith is a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas where he teaches jazz performance fundamentals, and directs the Six O'Clock Lab Band. Keith holds a Master's degree in jazz studies from Indiana University's Jacob's School of Music and a Bachelor's degree in trumpet performance from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Keith uses torpedo bags exclusively to transport and protect all of his trumpets.

Greta Matassa is one of the most talented singers working in jazz today. She has been voted "Northwest Vocalist of the Year" by Earshot Jazz seven times in 15 years!. Greta has been a mainstay on Seattle's Jazz stages for many years and with her recent successful dates at New York's Dizzy's Club at Lincoln Center, tours of Russia, Singapore and Hawaii and Japan, Greta's sound is now reaching new audiences. Greta has released seven CD's on the respected jazz label Origin Records and a DVD live concert with guitarist Mimi Fox. Her latest cd "I Wanna be Loved" Resonance Records was critically acclaimed. Greta is also a respected and generous teacher. She has been on faculty at Jazz Camp West, Drayton Harbor Jazz Festival and The Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. She has a thriving private teaching practice and is releasing an instructional e-book in 2014 and new CD is coming in 2015.
