John Unzicker

A life-long Alaskan, John Unzicker has been teaching K - 12 Music in the Juneau School District since 2005. He is also an adjunct professor for University of Alaska-Southeast (UAS) and was a staffed church music leader for 15 years.

John is a performing artist, soloist & educator for the Juneau Symphony, the Juneau Jazz Festival, and the Sitka Jazz on the Waterfront Big Band. John has a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Music from UAS and a Bachelor’s of Music Ed from UAA where he studied classical guitar with Shawn Lyons.

For the past 30 years, John has performed as a guitarist, conductor, and educator of vast musical genres and ensembles across the state of AK. Currently John regularly performs as a solo classical guitarist and with his Gypsy jazz group, Hot Club of Juneau.

John is excited to bring his passion for the study and performance of guitar to the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival.
